Three Arsenal players that could do with being loaned out in January

At least three Arsenal players would be better off out on loan

Arsenal needs squad depth but even then there will be players that are barely used. For some, it will be even more difficult to get game time when all injured players return.

Sending a player out of loan tends to be good for all parties involved and that includes senior players. It maintains value, keeps players fit and for some, gives them more experience.

Looking at the squad, the players that Unai Emery favours and the players that will most likely be bench warmers at best, I have identified three players that would be better off playing elsewhere for the final six months of the season.

Three players to loan

Mesut Ozil

I cannot see anything else for the German, he is clearly not wanted by Emery and he will spend the rest of the season on the bench if he is lucky. There are a lot of clubs that will take the playmaker on loan if a deal can be sorted with his wages. It would make sense for Arsenal as well, they do not want to keep a player in the squad that is unhappy.

Reiss Nelson

I struggle to see where he will get game time when Lacazette returns. I would suggest that Saka and Martinelli are already ahead of the 19-year-old. He was fairly successful in Germany last time he was loaned and another Bundesliga loan would work out perfectly. Why sit on the bench at Arsenal when you can play regularly elsewhere?

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

A strange one I agree but think about it. He is unlikely to get a midfield spot. There is already fierce competition there and he has already fallen behind Calum Chambers as Hector Bellerin backup. The chances of game time for Maitland-Niles will reduce significantly and a loan move is the best scenario for the 22-year-old. Going on loan will give him more experience in a position he wants to play in and he can return to Arsenal in much better shape mentally than he is right now.

There are more in contention for a loan spot. But for me, the three players named above will benefit the most from a loan deal. So will Arsenal.
