TWO Arsenal strikers set to leave in January? Cavani in?

There have been quite a few Arsenal transfer rumours recently linking the club with a January transfer move for another striker and there have been some big names on the table as well, such as Edinson Cavani from PSG. But with all the forward options that Arsene Wenger already has in the Gunners squad and with the need for players in other positions like central defence and midfield seeming a much more urgent need, it seemed that these reports were unlikely to hold much water.

Or maybe not, if the reports are true about Arsenal possibly waving goodbye to two of our current forwards, Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo, in the next few weeks. That would leave the Gunners with Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Joel Campbell, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck. For a team that usually plays with a front three, that would leave us one short, assuming that you want two options in each position.

A Metro report claims that our young French striker Sanogo could be heading back to France to play for Bordeaux in order to gain the playing time and experience he is not getting with Arsenal. It would only be a loan deal apparently but could be just what the 21-year old needs to help his Arsenal career in the long term.

And ESPN have reported that Podolski could also be heading out on loan, with Wenger having met with officials from the Serie A club Inter Milan to discuss it on Saturday. This deal would apparently involve a fee and be with a view to a permanent move. Wenger’s words on the German seemed to suggest that there is certainly something going on.

He said, “There’s nothing concrete. We have Mesut Ozil coming back at the beginning of January, so we have a lot of competition up front.”

I am not so sure about Ozil as a forward, but if we do let Sanogo and Podolski go, do you think that Arsenal will also bring another striker in? And if so, who will it be? Cavani?
