Walcott and Wenger backing Arsenal for EPL title – Do you?

It is always good to have confidence in your own ability and Arsenal can do with any and all help we can get if the Gunners are going to end up as Champions of England for the first time in over a decade at the end of this season. So it is good to hear that our England international forward Theo Walcott and the man in charge of things Arsene Wenger are brimming with belief in our Premier League title credentials right now.

In a Sky Sports report the striker was quoted after Arsenal scraped past Newcastle on Saturday and although it was not the most convincing performance, Walcott feels that the result was all important and has added to the growing belief in the side.

He said, “The three points are crucial at this moment in time, especially when teams slip up as well.

“We’ve had a blip at times but it’s important that we got those hard-fought three points today. In previous seasons we would have lost that or drawn, so that’s a very good sign for 2016.

“The title is anyone’s to be honest but there’s such a belief in this team that we can do it this year. It’s been a long time and everyone understands that, but you could just sense with that performance that we know what we need to do.

“It’s up for grabs but we have the strength in depth in this squad and I believe that we can push on this season and hopefully be successful.”

The Arsenal boss has echoed that se4ntiment in another Sky Sports report and declared that he can feel the different vibes that the current Arsenal squad are giving off, whereas before we might have been able to produce some brilliant football but were always likely to come unstuck in the tough games.

He said, “I think we are more experienced than the teams I had when I moved into the stadium here.

“On our day we could play everybody off the park and when you had to dig deep, you experienced it was a bit more difficult. It was different.

“We were more questioned on that aspect than the way we played football. Now, [in terms of] the experience, the quality of their attitude, the team always has the charisma.

“If you look at the team as a unit, it is like a person. If you look at your team like a person and the vibes that are coming out – you can sense in this job if you feel it or not.

“I must say [you see] another aspect of your team in a game like Newcastle. It is more the mental aspect – you fight, don’t panic and wait for your chance.”

What do you think Gooners? Have Arsenal really got the mental strength to avoid another disappointing end to the EPL season?
