Watford v Arsenal match preview and score prediction

Finally, football is back for Arsenal after the seemingly endless international break and they have a great opportunity of collecting all three points against bottom side Watford at Vicarage Road later today.

Arsenal will be without Alexandre Lacazette but will still be able to field a formidable front line against a very vulnerable Watford defence.

The Hornets are under new management, the defensive-minded Quique Sánchez Flores and if he stays true to form the game today could be one of attack v defence with Watford hoping to catch Arsenal on the counter-attack.

I am of the opinion that Unai Emery will go for an attacking formation today and play to Arsenal’s strength as opposed to fielding a team based on the strengths of the opponents.

Hopefully, we will see more from Maitland-Niles and Kolasinac today and if he plays, Dani Ceballos behind the front three, if those three can open up the channels and provide the service that the likes of Pepe and Aubameyang are craving then there is a good possibility of seeing a few Arsenal goals today.

Watford will be relying on their physical attributes, high balls and counter-attack and the Arsenal defence will have to be fully focussed, there is no room for error because Watford will take advantage just like Liverpool and Tottenham did.

A clean sheet must be on the agenda, they achieved that against Watford last season at their ground and a repeat of that would be very welcomed.

It is going to be a physical game but the pace and creativity of Arsenal should be enough for them to come away with all three points.

Predicted Score

Watford 0 – 3 Arsenal

  1. As you never know which Arsenal will turn up, i find it so hard to predict a score! Will it be 3-0? Right now, i can’t see it…we rarely do clean sheets, especially away from home!
    Plus Danny Welbeck!
About time we picked up all 3 points though… so come on Arsenal

    1. Good morning baby. I don’t care about clean sheet. I just want us to win. All except City had a good result and we cannot afford to lose to Watford because we obviously cannot beat the bigger teams. But sweetheart I don’t trust Emery. Loves.

      1. So nice to see you, Pat! Hope you’re well ?
Yes, as long as we get over the line & don’t gift even more stupid goals!! Yesterday was so crap.. don’t like it when we’re playing catch up, especially with only City dropping points (?) it doesn’t usually bode well…. oh well, we shall see ??

        1. I have missed you Sue, but I always pop around whenever I want to laugh because you are such a sweetheart and very very funny. Am holding up great and I will let you know as soon as I have another bun in the oven.

  2. This prediction doesn’t make sense, why get carried away? In 2012 we went to Norwich City at that time they didn’t win a single match that season and we lost.

Last season Southampton got a new manager in just before our match and we lost.

It is really difficult to remember a match that Arsenal won with a new manager in at the opposition end.

Lets keep our feet on the ground and respect the opponent.

We have to win today, I don’t care how we do it, WE HAVE TO WIN.

  3. Score prediction 1 – 3 to the Gunners. Welbeck to score against his old club, but Pepe will get his first for Gunners

  4. I noticed the Norwich manager saying something along the lines of his team being best at attacking and not too good at defending. Remind you of any other team?

Said he wouldn’t change just because it was Man City and that he would ALWAYS PLAY TO HIS TEAM’S STRENGTHS – and got his reward.

Will our manager have the guts to do the same and pick an ATTACKING team? Hope so. The good news is that Xhaka might not be fit to play – otherwise his ‘captain’ would be the first name on his teamsheet.

    1. I hope so, Emery is lovestruck with Xhaka ?

He told us in a press conference:
“He gives us very good balance in the middle with the ball and without the ball.”
“He’s very important for us. We can talk about the defects of any player, for him too, but we can speak about the very positive performances he gives us in most matches,”
“Xhaka has a big character and he’s very important for us.”

    1. Nonny I don’t know if you meant to be amusing but for me it was:

Emery – “Xhaka has a big character and he’s very important for us.”

      Nonny – “2-1 to Watford”

      Hilarious!
