It must be an extremely frustrating for the Arsenal and England international forward Danny Welbeck to have picked up an injury that looks set to keep him out of action for about a month, because Wellbz was enjoying a good run in the starting line-up and was in good form with goals for club and country flowing.
However, I do not see this as being a bit of typical rotten luck for the Gunners on the whole, because the timing of this injury to Welbeck is quite fortunate. The Daily Mail is reporting that the former Man United front man should be back after the next international break and the next game for Arsenal after that is away to Watford, so it would be good to have him back by then.
The games that the 26-year old will definitely miss, along with the three lions’ clashes with Slovenia and Lithuania, will be the Arsenal home games in the Premier League against West Brom and Brighton, the Carabao cup tie at home to Doncaster Rovers tonight and the trip to Belarus to plat BATE Borisov in the Europa League next week.
So not the toughest of fixtures to have to cope without the striker then. He would probably have been left out of the two cup games anyway and maybe even the EPL games which are likely to be heavily dominated by us and therefore suited more to Giroud’s target man attributes than Welbeck’s pace and running.
Walcott also needs some game time to sharpen up, and remember what offside means, while we also have the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Lacazette, Ozil and Iwobi to cover the forward positions. As long as this injury does not keep being extended like his previous one then have we actually got lucky with the timing of this latest injury to Welbeck?
