Wenger admits Arsenal have gone downhill, but he can live with that!

Arsenal only just missed out on the Top Four last season by one point after finishing very strongly and winning 8 of their last ten matches, and then capping it off when they beat the Champions Chelsea in the FA Cup Final.

This season has no chance of emulating that one as were unceremoniously dumped out of the FA cup at the first hurdle by Nottingham Forest, who are struggling to keep out of the relegation zone in the Championship, and if we were even going to match last season’s total of 75 points we would have to win every single one of our last ten games! The chances of that are looking very slim indeed as we have only won TWO of our previous ten matches before we face Brighton….

So Wenger, I guess, had no chance of denying that we have gone downhill in this campaign. “This season is worse than last season because last season we won the cup and we made 75 points,” he said.

“I don’t deny that, but we’ll analyse that at the end of the season. Don’t worry, I can live with reality. At the moment, we lost a cup final and we lost a big championship game.”

Oh goody we will analuse that at the end of the season? How about we analyse it now? Or at least in four days time when we get embarrassed by AC Milan in Italy. We will then know for sure that there is no chance of salvaging anything at all from this season. Wenger has apparently told the players to expect changes if we fail to make the Champions League, so can we start ‘analysing’ this sooner rather than later?
