Wenger not worried by Arsenal striker’s barren spell

Alexandre Lacazette is struggling for form in recent weeks, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is not worried about his record signing.

The Frenchman arrived from Lyon in a club record £52 Million move in the summer, and started the season well.

Lacazette has clocked up eight Premier League goals in his 22 appearances thus far, but hasn’t scored since taking on Manchester United back on December 2.

The French striker has been used sparingly, being substituted off the pitch in almost every outing since joining, but that is no excuse when considering the amount of match minuntes he has clocked up since finding the back of the net.

Wenger insists that despite his barren run, the manager is not worried and he is aware that the player will be frustrated by his lack of form.

“[The lack of goals] certainly affects him [Lacazette] a little bit, but I am not worried,” Wenger said. “He was diminished a bit physically on Wednesday night against Chelsea because he was not at his best before the game, but he was very isolated as well.

“It was a difficult game for a striker because he did defend a lot, but overall I don’t worry that he will come back and it’s in cycles. At the moment he’s going through a cycle that is a bit more frustrating for him.”

Who can help the 25 year-old find his goalscoring boots? Should Wenger be worried about his striker’s struggles?
