Wenger promises to play strong Arsenal side against Huddersfield

With Arsenal set to play 10 games between now and the end of December, I must admit I fully expected Wenger to make full use of his squad during the easier games, but Arsene has made it clear that every game is just as important and will play with a top team and deal with any injuries and fatigue for later games when he has to.

Wenger said in today’s press conference: “The most important game is tomorrow. We have a good chance to take three points at home and that is all that matters. We have a big squad to deal with it.”

We are aiming to make it 12 home League wins in a row at the Emirates tomorrow, which is the best run we have had since the time of the Invincibles, but Wenger doesn’t think we can yet call it a ‘fortress’ like Highbury was back in the day. He continued. “We have been a bit more patient, better defensively as well, more secure defensively and could make the differences many times in the second half.

“Then you build the belief and the strength that comes from the history of the team at home as well. We feel that we can turn it around, no matter what happens. Certainly, the home support makes a difference as well.”

But Le prof definitely wants to the Emirates to become a fortress too. “That’s the target.” he concluded. “It’s too early to say that because I don’t think the period is long enough to assess.”

If we can slide past Huddersfield and then take all 3 points from Wenger’s nemesis, Jose Mourinho, then perhaps we can start talking about it being a fortress!
