Wenger tells Hodgson he is wrong about Jack Wilshere

Much was made about Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere being used as a defensive midfielder for England’s two European Championship Qualifiers last week, but Arsene Wenger is adamant that Hodgson is definitely using him in the wrong position.

“Jack has more experience and he mixed well his long balls and kept his individual capacity to make a difference, that is what being a midfielder is about,” Wenger said.

“He is not a ball-winner. I believe he is more a guy who you want to get close to the final third, to keep him deep you take a big part of his efficiency away.

“Jack is a guy who likes to penetrate when there are many people, he can provoke free-kicks, he can create openings.

“A deeper role would be detrimental to his strengths and a position which is not his strength.”

So at least all Arsenal fans can stop expecting Wenger to copy Hodgson by playing him as a DM, and we can all go back to wishing that Wenger will buy a proper beast next summer to fit that role, unless of course he intends to bring in Sami Khedira in january and use the German in that position.

We all know that Flamini and Arteta are getting on and are not really “Arsenal class” in that position….
