Wenger’s rotation policy is the key to Arsenal’s crucial week ahead

Arsene Wenger has taken his rotation policy to a new level this season, with a completely different Arsenal side playing in midweek games as opposed to our Premier League first XI, but this will have to take a new twist this coming week with 3 EPL games in the space of 6 days.

It could be that the fixture list has been kind though as we can play our best team against Burnley tomorrow, who are level on points with us at the moment, and again next Saturday when we host Man United, who are one of our closest challengers for a Top Four position. Sandwiched in between on Wednesday we have a considerably easier home game against Huddersfield, and this game must be where Wenger’s rotation policy must come in to play.

I certainly hope that Wenger doesn’t send out a complete second team, as our Europa Cup side has looked decidedly listless in the their last two fixtures, drawing 0-0 at home to Red Star Belgrade and then our dismal 1-0 defeat to bottom-of-the-Bundesliga side Cologne, but he will have to rest at least half our First XI to prepare for the crucial visit of Jose Mourinho’s United.

Although Huddersfield may be considered the easier game, it is extremely important that we make it our 12th home League win in a row ahead of United’s visit and Wenger must make sure that whoever plays is up for the fight and will give their all for the shirt.

Every game is extremely crucial right now and we must start the week in style by beating the dour Northerners tomorrow at Turf Moor, and bring added confidence to the midweek visit of Huddersfield.

Onwards and Upwards!
