To be fair to Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal board, a transfer fee of £10 million does not sound like too much to ask for a player with the pace and technical ability that Kieran Gibbs has and the experience that being an England international with nearly 150 Premier League games and close to 50 in the Champions League brings with it.
Having said that, any club thinking of signing the left back will be well aware that he is surplus to requirements at Arsenal and that Wenger has therefore not got a great deal of bargaining power. So despite Sky Sports reporting that the EPL club West Brom has approached the Gunners about the possibility of getting Gibbs this summer, they are apparently not willing to meet the price.
I suppose it all depends on just how much they want him and also whether the 27-year old wants to join the Baggies and play for Tony Pulis, perhaps with an eye on getting some more games for the three lions into the bargain. With Wenger clearly preferring the Spaniard Nacho Monreal and having added Sead Kolasinac to the squad it is unlikely that Gibbs will see much action this season unless he leaves, although he has been known to play in various positions.
