Unai Emery is aiming this season to become the first ever manager to win four Europa League Trophys, so he will be looking to put his name in the history books with in his first year with Arsenal. He has already admitted that the Premier League must be the Number One target when he said yesterday: “The Premier League is the first competition because it’s giving us a big responsibility, maybe bigger than the others, in the season. There are 38 matches, so your first analysis is like this. Other competitions are very important too. Today, we are only thinking about giving our supporters the first performance and a good 90 minutes on the pitch at the Emirates.”
But he must have a driving force to speahead his attempt to get his 4th Europa trophy as well, as he went on to say: “In my career, the ambition is very important for continuing to improve and continuing to achieve the objectives in my career personally and with the team. I want to play for every title going forward.”
So how does he balance these ambitions? The Gunners have now won three games in a row in the League, and he is unlikely to want to tire our Top strikers like Aubameyang and Lacazette against such lowly opposition but how can he make sure they score lots of goals this evening? What are his options?
The two other acknowledged strikers in the top squad are Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi, and they could both be in the team tonight, but neither of them are renowned for being prolific hitmen. Mhkitaryan is also a possibility on is previous form at Dortmund, but the player I want to see is the youngster Eddie Nketiah. He scores for fun with England and the Arsenal reserves so he is made for this game as far as I am concerned, and I would like Emile Smith-rowe to play alongside him. Another possibility is Joe Willock, and just a week ago all three were on target when the U21s beat League One Coventry in the Checkatrade Trophy. They are used to playing with one another so maybe they should all start together tonight? Surely Vorskla are not much better than an English League One side?
