Who hates Tottenham? We do! And the Arsenal players!

Recent Arsenal fans may only think about the ding-dong battles with Man United for the League title or the uncanny hold Chelski has had over us until this season, but it has always been a long held tradition for the Gunners to hate Tottenham more than any other team. Witness Jack Wilshere’s rant on the celebration bus after our last FA Cup win…

We had to wait until the last day of last season to get St Totteringham’s Day. There is a website dedicated to it which is worth a read, and last year was our 21st season in a row that we have finished above the Spuds. We simply must keep this run going !

A quote from Don Howe many many years ago before the NLD…”Naturally this match is important to us. It means so much to our supporters. It’s the game they want us to win perhaps more than any other. It’s life or death to them. They can live or die off the result for a year.”

With Arsenal being unbeaten since the first day of the season, and Spurs being unbeaten in the League, this is guaranteed to be a crucial fixture in the title race, and the Arsenal players know it too. Arron Ramsey said onthe offical Arsenal site yesterday when askedabout St Totteringhams Day: “Of course [finishing above them matters],” Ramsey said. “It has been many years since that happened and we didn’t want it to happen last season. It was important for us to finish above them and hopefully we can keep that the same way this season.

“They have been a tough challenge in the past couple of seasons. It is a derby game so we know what we are up against and what to expect. They are unbeaten in the league so far this season and it is going to be up to us to try and break them down. We are at home and I’m sure going into that game we will be full of confidence we can get a win.”

We mustn’t just be confident, we want to be certain! COYG!
