Why Arsenal may save Lucas Perez for PSG clash

I have to be honest and say that I have not really seen much of our new striker signing Lucas Perez in action for the club we bought him from Deportivo La Coruna or any of the ones before, so I have to go on what I have been hearing and reading about him.

Most of that, like the Sky Sports report on him yesterday, portrays the 27-year old as a bit of a mix between a Jamie Vardy type, blessed with great pace and counter attacking threat, and our own Alexis Sanchez with great work rate and energy used to harry opposing defenders.

The report suggests that his style of play is more suited to games in which the opposing teams will be playing a high line and this does not apply to Arsenal too often over the course of a season, which is why a lot of people thought that Arsene Wenger trying to sign Vardy from Leicester City was a bit odd.

Our Premier League game this weekend at home to Southampton, for instance, is one in which you would expect us to dominate the ball and be faced with a determined and deep lying defence, so it may not be suited to the Spaniard. Next Tuesday, however, is likely to be a different challenge altogether as we travel to face the French Ligue 1 champions PSG in the Champions League.

It may well be this sort of game which Wenger had in mind when signing the new striker, so do you think Arsenal fans may save him for that match, perhaps with a little run out from the bench on Saturday?
