Why Arsenal MUST play Cazorla in the middle at West Brom

The Arsenal and Spain international midfielder Santi Cazorla is one of those players that is sometimes a victim of their own versatility. Almost as adept with either foot, he can play on both flanks as well as his best position as a central attacking midfielder pulling the strings.

And Cazorla certainly did that in his first season with the Gunners following his move from La Liga. The little magician also scored 12 goals in that debut season and was voted by the Arsenal fans as our Player of the Year, but has since had to contend with the arrival of Mesut Ozil and now Alexis Sanchez, as well as a few injury problems of course, He does play for Arsenal after all.

But Cazorla got the chance to impress at number 10 against Borussia Dortmund and had a huge impact, setting up Yaya Sanogo for the opening goal and claiming a second assist for Alexis to score the second. That is not the only reason why I think he should play there again today though, because I also think that Wenger should start the fit again Olivier Giroud up front. The Frenchman is fresh and also gives us the aerial ability to cope with West Brom’s set pieces which they are very good at.

That means we lose the pace of Danny Welbeck up front, but that can be compensated by playing the pacy Alexis and Oxlade-Chamberlain in the wide attacking positions, with Cazorla creating chances for them and linking up with the big French striker. Our Chilean star is also brilliant in the number 10 role but he is much more effective than Cazorla on the flanks.

So Gooners, do you agree that Cazorla should get another chance to shine in the middle?
