Why Arsenal will struggle to sign top transfers if Wenger stays

Footballers are not exactly well known for being the brightest bulbs on the christmas tree, but they do know about football and they know about their own self interest. Add to that the fact that the problems at Arsenal and with Arsene Wenger have been very heavily reported by the football press for years and we have a problem.

Because if the Frenchman does decided to stay in charge of Arsenal for another year or two I think it could lead to real problems in the transfer market. According to a report by The Mirror it is very likely that both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will leave the club during the summer transfer window.

That in itself is bad enough but as well as creating two big holes in the team to fill, it increases the notion that top players will not want to play for us. Losing Ozil and Alexis after the recent departures of big players like Robin van Persie, Fabregas and many more creates and ever growing idea that the top players are better off somewhere else if they want to win a major trophy.

The fact that RVP picked up a Premier League winners medal the season after leaving us and looking at the success that other former Gunners have enjoyed after moving on does not exactly encourage the top players that Arsenal under Wenger can fulfil their ambitions.

We cannot even rely on financial muscle to persuade big name players to accept a transfer to north London because we are known for paying less than our rivals. So if Arsenal lose our two best players and Wenger signs a new deal, how is the club going to entice players good enough to replace them?
