Why Cazorla can help Arsenal overcome injury crisis

Although there is at least good reason to hope that the Arsenal injury list will soon be a lot shorter than it is right now, Arsene Wenger still has a problem on his hands. When the club football gets back underway after the annoying international break is over, the Gunners could have as many as seven first team players on the sidelines.

That is according to the sports injury website physioroom.com and even though they have Hector Bellerin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pencilled in for a return to the Arsenal squad this weekend, there is no guarantee of that. And they also take no account of the fatigue factor for Alexis Sanchez, Gabriel and Joel Campbell who will be the last Arsenal players to return after some long haul globe trotting.

It seems cleat that even though injuries to the likes of Wilshere, Rosicky and Ramsey have left our central midfield weakened, the biggest problem facing the prof is the front three and that is where I think our little magician Santi Cazorla could wave his magic wand and come to the rescue.

It took me a long time to be convinced that Cazorla was being well used in his new deep lying central role but he has definitely done that. But he has often done great work for us in a more advanced position or on one of the flanks as well and that could be where we need him most against West Brom on Saturday, especially if Wenger is serious about giving a rest to the jaded looking Alexis.

Ramsey would be the ideal player to come into the centre but we also have Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, so is it time for the manager to shuffle the side around a little and to make us of Santi’s versatility and wing play?
