Arsene Wenger remains more likely be at Arsenal on the opening day of next season, according to the betting markets that is. The Gunners were humiliated last night by London rivals Crystal Palace, who pummelled the Arsenal 3-0 at Selhurst Park, leaving our side with a huge task ahead to try and reach the coveted top four slots.
Most of the season, as well as a number of occasions in previous years, a growing number of fans have moved to protest against Arsene Wenger remaining in charge of the club, and with the manager’s contract up this summer, the movement has snowballed.
This season we have seen banners flown over the match between our side and West Bromwich Albion, and a growing number of fans holding #WengerOut banners, and not only at our games. The movement has become a worldwide phenomenon, and Wenger himself admitted that the fans wishes would be taken into consideration when deciding on whether to extend his stay.
The fans have been divided over the protests, and there were even crowds of supporters fighting with each other after the draw with Manchester City last weekend, which is believed to have been in order to disrupt Arsenal Fan TV’s attempt to interview people for their YouTube channel, whilst three people were also filmed fighting inside the stadium during half-time, whilst we were trailing 2-1 to Man City before coming back to draw the match.
Despite the continued frustrations of the fans, Wenger remains odds-on to still be in charge of the club for the first match of next season. With his stay currently priced at 11/10 (2.1).
