Why would Arsenal sell Nacho Monreal?

There are always some Arsenal transfer rumours put about that make no sense at all to me. But the reports continue that Real Sociedad are trying hard to persuade Arsenal to sell Nacho Monreal, who was one of our most consistent performers last season.

This is how the Mirror described the situation….

Nacho Monreal could be heading for the exit at Arsenal with Real Sociedad keen.

The Spain international has two years left on his Gunners contract, which includes a one-year option.

His desire to leave is not strong, but Unai Emery does not have big plans for the 32-year-old.

After losing Alvaro Odriozola to Real Madrid for €30m, Spanish football journalist Kike Marin believes Monreal is now on their radar.

It is not an easy deal though and convincing Monreal to leave London appears difficult.

But I guess in the new Unai Emery revolution, perhaps he would consider that selling a 32 year-old for a tidy sum would be good business, especially if he is replaced by a much younger version. Also, being Spanish, maybe Monreal would prefer to end his career in his home country as it is surely just a matter of time before he thinks about retiring.-

Who thinks selling Nacho would be a good idea?
