Will Cavani transfer complete the Arsenal title jigsaw?

According to some of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours, Arsene Wenger is planning to make one more big splash in the summer transfer window, with a stunning swoop for the Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani. And if the Prof can pull this one off, I reckon it could be the final piece in the puzzle for the Gunners to become champions of England again.

The Uruguay international star is apparently unsettled in France and is keen on a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United all interested. But according to a report in the Daily Star, Wenger thinks he can win the race for Cavani by offering the French champions our current front man Olivier Giroud plus a hefty cash balance of around £30 million.

This could well be enough to tempt PSG to sell, as they are under pressure from UEFA to balance the books more and start to comply with the FFP rules. Also, they know that Cavani wants to leave and is very unlikely to sign an extension to his current deal with them. So this could be the best chance for them to get a good chunk of their 65 million euro investment back, while also getting a decent back-up for Ibrahimovich who will be happy in Paris.

Even if we get Cavani, I would still expect Wenger to sign another defender and maybe a central midfielder, but having a centre forward of Cavani’s ability to finish off the moves created by the likes of Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis and all would surely make us real contenders for the title. What do you think, Gooners?
