Will FA cup memory inspire or pressurise Arsenal?

After the disappointing Arsenal performance and result from the away game at Southampton on new years day, it is very important for the Gunners to get back to winning ways quickly. And with a full week for the Gunners to rest and recover before the next Premier League game against Stoke City, hopefully we can beat Hull City tomorrow and put a smile back on the faces of the Arsenal fans.

And if we ever needed a bit of extra incentive and inspiration, a repeat of the most glorious day in our recent history should do the trick. Playing Hull again in the FA cup has obviously brought the memories of that Wembley final in May to the forefront of our minds, but will that help the players?

It could possibly go the other way and work against us, with the pressure of defending the famous trophy getting to the players. Also, the visiting team will be desperate to erase their own painful memories and get revenge on Arsenal after we came back from two goals down to win that final.

Of course, we will not have our match winner from that game in the starting line-up, as Aaron Ramsey is not quite ready to return from his hamstring injury. Nor will we have Olivier Giroud to lead the line or Mesut Ozil and Mikel Arteta to pull the strings in midfield, but at least we have the other two goal scorers from that day in Laurent Koscielny and Santi Cazorla.

Hull have their own injury problems, with some key players like Dawson and Diame out of action, so Arsenal really should have too much for the tigers once again. But I think a lot will depend on whether the players are inspired by the trophy win or under pressure to defend it. Which way do you think it will go?
