Wilshere on course to return in April for Arsenal – Hmmmm….

Arsenal are claimed to have told the Evening Standard’s James Olley that Jack Wilshere has not suffered an injury setback.

The England international has not featured in the Premier League since May of last year, after suffering a broken leg last summer, before suffering a number of set-backs.

Another delay to his return has been circling of late, but apparently Arsenal have told a reporter that this simply is not the case.

‘Arsenal insist Wilshere hasn’t suffered a setback in his recovery from injury as rumoured. Club say he’s progressing well,’ James Olley of the Evening Standard tweeted.

Wilshere will be expected to make his return next month, which could see him earn a summer call-up to the England international squad for the upcoming European Championships, with the prospect of being rather fresh for his country.

Santia Cazorla and Petr Cech are also expected to return early into April, and could prove to be key in the club’s final push to close the gap on league leaders Leicester City.

The Foxes are way out in front currently with 11 points in hand on us, although we have played a game less.

The leaders also have a tough run-in ahead, with difficult trips to Sunderland, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Our run in looks much more favourable, albeit the trip to Manchester City, although the Citizens have been awful of late, especially against the bigger teams, and we should not rule out an unlikely lunge up the table.

Of course I wouldn’t put money on our emphatic jump to the lead, but surely Leicester have to start getting nervous, and the teams they are coming up against have much more to lose.

Can Wilshere play a big role in helping us close the gap? Or should he be used sparingly and bring him back into the fold next season?
