Would Alexis really force Arsenal to sell him?

There are some worrying signs that things may not going well in the contract negotiations between Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez. Maybe the fact that the Gunners did not win the title last year when we should have had it wrapped up or maybe Alexis wants too much money, or maybe he is getting annoyed with Wenger for interfering in his international matches!

Whatever the reason, Steve Stammers in the Daily Mirror seems to think that there is definitely a hiccup, and he thinks that Man City could be interested in making a massive offer for the Chilean international. In the Media section of the Official Man City website, Stammers writes. “Alexis Sanchez will spark a £50million battle between Manchester City and Juventus if he fails to agree a new deal at Arsenal.

“The Chile international has been in superb form for the Gunners this season and wants a substantial rise on his current £130,000-a week-deal.

“Sanchez, 27, will have one year left on his contract at the end of this season and Arsenal want him for another three years.

“Talks have been on-going since August and they know the next deal he signs will the most lucrative of his career and wants that reflected in his salary.

“The fact that no contract has yet been signed has alerted Juventus and City.

“Both clubs know that Arsenal will be certain to sell if Sanchez is left with just one year left on his current agreement at the end of this season.

“There would then be a danger that Sanchez would opt to see out his last season and leave on a free in 2018.”
