Zaha may improve at Arsenal says Gunners legend

The Crystal Palace frontman Wilfreid Zaha may have been touted as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez when the Chilean leaves the Emirates at the end of the season, but there is a lot of doubt amongst Arsenal fans as to whether he is just a cheap(?) option or if he could possibly improve enough and start increasing his goal tally.

Last season he managed 7 goals in 35 appearances for Palace but he did help out with 9 assists as well, but when you consider that the whole Palace team only scored 50 in the whole campaign, there is a real chance that these figures could improve considerably if he was playing for a top attacking side like Arsenal. Ray Parlour is hopeful, but not certain, that the 25 could do a job for the Gunners. “He’s a player that can run at you, he’s got great pace,” Parlour said.

“He’s probably lacking a little bit of goals, he gets in some great positions and maybe his end product is not as good as it should be.

“But I think it will improve and in a better team you might get more out of him.

“Alexis Sanchez, you’re going to be losing 25 goals a season. That’s the big problem Arsenal have, how do you replace that?

“Whether Zaha will be the man, I don’t think he scores as many goals as he should do because he gets in some really good areas.

“But certainly if you can get the best out of him, Zaha, he’s very dangerous on his day.

“He can change a game for you, like he has done in recent weeks for Palace.”

So Parlour doesn’t sound as pessimistic as most Arsenal fans seem to be about the Ivory Coast international, so maybe he could be a good buy after all. One thing worth mentioning is that Zaha has scored twice this season in just five starts, whereas Alexis has only got one from six!!
