Arsenal give Dan Crowley the chance to prove himself

Crowley set to go out on loan!

Arsenal have today agreed to send one of the the club’s most highly rated young prospects out on loan to a League One side, in order to gain more experience on the competitive level.

Arsenal’s Dan Crowley, who is rated highly by many at the club, was expected to go out on loan again for the upcoming season, as Wenger had previously spoken about how Crowley is yet to achieve the required standard of physicality to make it in the Premier League. Crowley may be very talented for an 18 year old but the young Englishman lacks the conviction and strength that is required to perform in a competitive and physically demanding Premier League game.

Arsenal have therefore announced today that Dan will be joining League One side Oxford United on a season long loan. At Oxford, Crowley is sure to get plenty of playing time and the experience will really boost his ability, confidence, competitive edge and give him a real taste of the professional game. If Crowley was to stay at Arsenal for the upcoming season, it was likely we may have seen him in the early rounds of the domestic cup competitions, but aside from that, he would’ve been stuck amongst the youth ranks and sadly the youth team isn’t known for giving players that professional edge that they need when developing as a youngster. There is no doubt in Crowley’s talent and I think he is one of the best young players we currently have on the books at Arsenal, however he does need to spend time away playing at a professional and competitive level in order to ensure that he is well equipped when it comes to joining up with Arsenal on first team duties.

Crowley spent part of last season out on loan with Barnsley and managed to flourish in his time there. He returned to Arsenal with many praises and Gunners fans, players and staff alike will also be hoping for the very best with Crowley’s upcoming season, because this boy really does have talent!

  1. Yes, he is obviously very talented,he plays like he is above 18 already…..

Am sure the physical side will improve pretty soon, because League one is quite physical too and Wenger has told him he needs to improve in that area so he would work on it personally too I hope……

    All the best young gun!

  2. I thought Crowley made like
6 starts for Barnsley out of
    the clubs 60 fixtures.
They must be blind to his talents
so lets keep him here and
have him cover for Cazorla and Ozil.

  3. how true is the rumours of Hazard quitting international football?

    Shocking but Hilarious!

  4. I understood that he did not flourish at Barnsley. He was due to stay until January this year but was sent back early in october 2015. Of course the problem may have been with barnsley.

Lets hope this new spell goes better.
