Arsenal really must beat Man City to keep our season alive

Wenger simply MUST win again Man City! By SK

The match against Man City is fast approaching and the average Arsenal fan is apprehensive; not knowing if we can expect a victory in any match at all at the moment! Such is the low point we have reached at Arsenal that the average fan is not really motivated to watch games again.

The game against Man City is a big opportunity for Wenger to show the fans he still knows how to win against the big teams. He needs to win this game badly, as a loss will only worsen things for him! The “Wenger out” brigands are always ready to pounce on any opportunity to vent their anger on Wenger, so he had better win the game or suffer the consequences.

Man City on their own part, are on a little revival of sorts; they have started playing well and started winning games, so beating them will take lots of tactical effort and determination. Wenger should be determined to beat them and must find the best tactics needed to take home the points. The right players should be fielded; players who are 100% motivated and fit to play. Enough of fielding players just because they are your favourites!

Sanchez if fit, must start the game. The situation concerning his contract should not be used against him because he is still an Arsenal player till his contract runs out. Our goal keeper for that day should know what to expect from the likes of Aguero, Sterling and Sane. All hands must be on deck to make sure that we don’t lose any more games, which may affect our chances of qualifying for the champions league.

We MUST qualify for the champions league, shouldn’t we?

  1. Wenger better not bench Alexis again (unless for health reasons)
He is by far our best player. Not just quality but work ethic and aggressiveness
I want to see him get at least 20 PL goals for us before he leaves us (barring a miracle)

    1. Made me laugh, that whole Sanchez incident. Wenger, for once, tried to show how ruthless he could be, but then brought Sanchez on at half-time anyway! The only thing Wenger proved on that day, is actually how weak he is. On top of that, Sanchez got an assist, and we looked way more threatening in the second half. Sanchez had the last laugh…again!

  2. While I see no reason why on paper we can’t beat city I see no suggestion we will. You say we will need tactics and determination, these two things have been lacking against the best teams for a long time now. We lose and expect silence from the club, we win and I expect wengers new deal to be announced. Its so sad to think no matter what happens he’s almost certainly going to stay.

    1. Yes, I hope by Monday next Walcott will announce himself to the world, how he’s just after finding out that actual care and hard work can improve his game (shock!). We know we’ve won a game against a good side when Walcott speaks to cameras.

    1. You can tell me to mind my own business if you like, but is Mia your name or are you a boy, not that it makes any difference to your comments, just wondering.

I too am worried for this game. Really hate losing to these with all the player history and all. But we’re playing so so poorly, no cohesion (wink) whatsoever, we’ll be relying on Alexis to run amok. A draw is no good our for CL hopes, usually I’m happy with games in hand but I cannot bring myself to be positive. I fear Liv will go on a bit of a streak and Manu I feel will have our lads collapse mentally if it comes down to one of the two. Would love to see Spu collapse but I just can’t see it, it’s like they are all out to make a point with us, sick of seeing us grab the spot each season only to end the same miserable way, I think they’re really determined to keep us out of the positions. We don’t look determined enough to make our usual late charge.

      1. First time I’ve been asked so FYI not a boy far from it actually, 45 years ARSENAL Fan so go from there, the name is because I live in Miami and my office is at MIA Miami International Airport…..regarding your deep analysis concur with your assessment, if nothing changes all seems to point that we will not play CL next year

  3. Yes, laughing , laughing, falling over with laughter,.. YES!

Wenger will show us what he is made of starting from now as 13 or 20 years (depending on the competition) and what he has failed to achieve is not ‘apparently’ suffecient evidence for some.

    Hehehehehehe

  4. Why must we qualify for CL? If it’s for the money then i don’t care because i pay way too much to support a club that is mediocre for its status. If it’s to participate in the competition then let’s face it – we haven’t done that in about a decade. If it’s to attract players then i doubt it because they see our annual Feb spankings and don’t wish to participate.

  5. It hurts me to admit it but I think city will tear Arsenal apart. On past showing we are non directional, without leadership and many of the team are gutless. We have less than impressive manager who will blame everyone else for his failings. The club is in free fall. We need an assertive, aggressive, knowledgeable manager who can bring out the best in our players and I am afraid the present person is inadequate. I for one will not go to the Emirates in protest I hope there is a lot more with me.

  6. MUST? Or what? He will be sacked? No chance. Even if Arsenal loses, Sir Chips and Co. will still wear their tired smiles and watch as Wenger signs the contract.
Arsenal have the ability to beat City, but will they do it. I really doubt, for the simple reason that Arsenal has become the official punching bag for Europe’s and England’s elite clubs.

  8. It’d be nice to see a decent first half of football for a change.

I want to see Wenger up on his feet if the players aren’t pulling their weight.

I dread to think if we lose this weekend. A draw isn’t even good enough.

  9. No need to win any game if Arsenal wins it without cohesiveness, by luck or with controversy (like our games against Burnley this season). I don’t even want to see any Arsenal game if they can only score during the set pieces and corners. It is also useless for them to play if they can only get the ball possession after the opponent defends in the last twenty minutes of the game.

It’s been a long time since I saw this team won from beautiful, quick and ruthless attacks. I just want to see them to play as a team, not headless chickens. Win or lose doesn’t matter anymore, since the Premiere League title is out of Arsenal’s hands now. What matters is the major change in Arsenal’s system and mentality. It should happen this season.

  10. “they have started playing well and started winning games, so beating them will take lots of tactical effort and determination.”
Tell me, then, exactly how much can you loan from your bank to put on Man City winning?
I know I will. Might even invest my house into that bet.
Because, there hasn’t been any tactical effort in the past few years at Arsenal and, of late, there is zero determination from the squad.

The team has fallen apart, full stop. We’d be lucky to stay sixth really. If we manage to take one single point in the following tough fixtures, I’d consider it success.
