Arsenal stars enjoy SUPER start to international break!

If it carries on like this then the Arsenal fans, players and manager will be over the moon when the domestic action begins again with the visit of Liverpool next weekend. The Gunners had three of our players in action for their countries last night and it could hardly have gone better.

At first I was a bit annoyed to see that Mesut Ozil was one of only five outfield Germany international players that completed the whole of the friendly match against Australia, but then he did have the day off for Arsenal’s last game against Newcastle.

And he clearly played well and was even rewarded with the captain’s armband once the Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira had been replaced. After all the negativity aimed at Ozil in England and Germany in the last couple of years, that show of faith from Joachim Low must have been a real boost to our record signing and will surely have meant a lot to him.

There was a rare bit of good news for our on loan striker Lukas Podolski as well, as he came on to score the equaliser that earned Germany a 2-2 draw. Maybe that will be just the boost Podolski needs, either to get him going at Inter Milan or to help him find another club in the summer, as it seems highly unlikely that he will play for Arsenal again. It still helps us if Podolski does well though, so hopefully he will get another chance for Germany next week.

The final Gunner in action was young Chuba Akpom, who won and then score a penalty which earned the England under 20 side a creditable draw against a very highly regarded Mexico team. The 19-year old striker is now apparently set to join Nottingham Forest for the rest of the season and we all hope that there are plenty more goals to come from the youngster.

Day one of the international break over and so far so good for Arsenal.

  1. Awesome.

Great that they played well and even better- no injuries

Nice to see Podolski scoring an equalizing goal

  2. Tonight all 3 matches may involve Arsenal players
Columbia is playing so Ospina could start

Iran v Chile, so Alexis will most likely play up front with Vargas

France v Brazil, so maybe Koscielny will start and Giroud may not get a lot of playing time because of Benzema

    1. I honestly don’t mind if giroud doesn’t play much he’s been essentially playing every game for the full 90 and he gives 100% every time. I think he could do with a rest and light cameo

      1. out of all the French ST, he is probably having the best start to 2015. He deserves some playing time

          1. Lacazette has scored 23 goals out of 26 League games. Statistics speak for themselves. He is the real deal.

    2. don’t forget Gabby for Brazil. Hopefully he gets some minutes.

And I heard that Sakho is starting over Koscielny which is absolutely blasphemous

  3. Ozil taking armband, hahaha.
I’m an Ozil fan, but seriously though wtf.

Hope he comes back guns blazing

    1. Well Low obviously has his reasons to pick him. I didn’t watch the match, but who else would you choose before him?

      1. A tough talking tough tackling player and seeing as we are speaking of Germans i presume there must be a few.

        1. Check out the lineup. Don’t think there were other players besides Ozil and Poldi (maybe Howedes) with 2 World Cup experiences or had the game time like Ozil in the last one. And we all know what the captain bands can do. When Koscielny got it at the end of the Newcastle match, he became twice as vocal and stern which was great to see. And like I said you never know Low’s intentions. Who knows how Ozil acts behind the scenes

  4. Ospina has had a good first half for Columbia (though it’s against Bahrain) – clean sheet

    Falcao has scored two goals

  5. Germany are chest head and shoulders above ninety five percent of world give or take… personally id give. Hes still an impressive finisher none the less, also isnt their mail goalscorer the all time world cup scorer.
