Is Arsenal boss expecting too much from return of Ramsey?

I suppose we should look at the fact that the Arsenal and Wales international star Aaron Ramsey has only played in six Premier League games so far this season and that he has not even played for half of the minutes that he could have done in those matches.

But even taking this into account I think you have to accept that Ramsey’s return of zero goals and just one assist in this year’s Premier League campaign is not too good. So I have to say that I think Arsene Wenger may be placing a bit too much value on the Welshman’s return to training after the toe injury that has kept him on the sidelines since our Champions League away game at Basel, as the Arsenal website have reported.

Wenger said, “You know the strengths of Aaron. “He’s efficient offensively, he has a high level of activity and is a very complete box-to-box player. Overall I think he gives us options in the team when he plays.

“Yes he’s almost like a new signing because he has not played many games. He has played maybe two games since the start of the season, but let’s not be too premature. He’s had some setbacks and I hope this time he will be alright.”

I do not want to be too down on the lad, because I was one of the Arsenal fans who believed in the quality of Rambo when a lot of us were calling for him to be dumped by the club and were even suggesting that he was some sort of bad luck charm.

And to be fair to the midfielder, I would be over the moon to have the Ramsey of a few years ago back, but the problem is that we have seen that effective and dynamic input from Ramsey all too rarely, especially in an Arsenal shirt as he does seem to play better for Wales than he does for us.

Are you as excited as Wenger is about the return of Ramsey or do you think that he really needs to step up his game to be of much use to Arsenal and our chances of winning a trophy?

  1. Ramsey will not be our saviour, particularly if Wenger plays him out wide where he suffers.

IMO Ramsey should be used to substitute Ozil out early when Ozil is haveing a poor game. Ramseys best position is in the middle as nr 10 or attacking midfielder, when Ozil and Santi are not available for that role Ramsey might be our next best option.
