Official Arsenal team at Man City with Coquelin AND Xhaka

Okay Gooners, this is a big one that Arsenal really need to get something out of, and despite the fact we are away to Man City who have been in great form and are the Premier League pace setters, Arsene Wenger understands that all three points are the order of the day and has vowed that the Gunners will take the game to Pep Guardiola’s free scoring side.

From the look of the starting line-up selected buy the manager, though, I think he may have been overstating that case, because we have no Lacazette in the team and Wenger has also named two holding midfielders in Coquelin and Xhaka.

Cech
Bellerin, Monreal, Koscielny, Kolasinac
Coquelin, Xhaka, Ramsey
Ozil, Sanchez, Iwobi

Subs: Macey, Debuchy, Lacazette, Wilshere, Giroud, Walcott, Elneny

With no Per Mertesacker or Holding in the squad it looks like the bioss has opted for a back four with Koscielny and Monreal in the middle and Kolasinac and Bellerin as full backs.

Hopefully the surprise selection will confuse Guardiola and the Man City players but I am not exactly bursting with confidence about Arsenal getting anything out of today’s big match, never mind a win that would close the gap on the current leaders.

  1. WTF Wenger…
    Not this s$it again.
Why not lacazette? How would Iwobi help?
Playing for a draw are we?

    1. Iwobi cant defend for shit, would have been better to put alexis or even lacazette instead of Iwobi. I like Iwobi but guy thinks he’s already a superstar and mostly doesnt track back.
Lineup is interesting but as usual wenger will sabotage us by taking our best striker out so kick his ass out the door if we lose badly.

  2. Looking forward to exciting open game of football.
I’d have Ramsey mark out Debruyne and play 10 vs 10.
If Debruyne runs free and allowed to create we will be in serious trouble.
We need to match intensity and pressing to keep the tempo up

  3. I kind of like this line up,why?mobility!!! This is a very mobile selection and I dare say its the way to match city’s pace.now I do hope there are no errors from xhaka, and I see coq running to recover balls iwobi with his dribbles and ball retention and Alexis with that pace to disturb and force the defence into error if they want to start from their defence.I also like the bench coz we could be goalless and laca could come in and get the goal we could even bring in giroud alond side laca ..in all once we turn up I see a fantastic game of football

  4. I shudder to think that this team will get anything against a very good Man city side. Why Lacazette on the bench when he is supposed to be our top striker ?

  5. No Lacazette????????

Yes lets play 2 players that won’t be here next year and bench the one bought for 50 million and who is naturally going in between and behind the defence!

So tired of Wenger trying to second guess himself with team selections….

  6. IOWI???? you must be kidding
    Wenger getting it wrong again
Arsenal would be very lucky if they can
    leave this one being thrashed
