Still BIG questions over Arsenal’s EPL title credentials

I would not start pre-ordering the Arsenal 2016-17 Premier League winners merchandise just yet Gooners, even though things are looking a lot more rosy at the end of this weekend than they were just a couple of weeks ago when it was looking like the old nemesis of November was going to send Arsenal spinning out of the race again.

We Gooners have good reason to be happy right now as this blip was nothing like the ones that have sprung up in the past and that is hugely encouraging to our hopes of ending the wait for another title win. But there is a long way to go and, let’s be honest, Arsenal have plenty of ways to mess this up.

The injury problems that we hoped the addition of fitness and training experts seems to be just as bad as ever and I feel that we are already missing key players like Cazorla. Imagine if we lost Ozil or Alexis Sanchez and I am not just being pessimistic because it always seems to happen.

There are still plenty of questions for this Arsenal squad to answer as well. Do we have the winning mentality? Can we avoid the complacency and/or nerves that has seen us lose games we should win at crucial times? Can we stay strong in the games against big rivals in the second half of the season? Will Arsene Wenger use the January transfer window to fix any obvious weaknesses we have at that point?

Don’t get me wrong I am excited and encouraged by Arsenal this season but I cannot help wondering if there are still some of the same old problems. What do you guys think?

  1. A good number if the old questions have been answered this season really. I just hope we can stay strong in the second half of the season and really push for this title.

    1. From this article, you’d think that we were 10 points clear. We are in no way favourites for the title but we do still have a good chance of winning. There are many strong squads, as is ours but we will need some luck concerning games and injuries as well as the form of our players to worry about for the remainder of the season. Imo there should be no title talk until at least 2/3 of the way through the season (unless we happen to start dominating the league heavily, which is unlikely). Look at Leicester, they avoided thinking/speaking about the title and took every game seperately as a challenge to get through and look what happened. On to the next game and I hope our unbeaten streak in the league continues. COYG!

  2. Chelsea are still favourites in my opinion
With Liverpool, us, City and even Spuds in with a chance

We just need to focus on ourselves and do our best to win every match

I seriously think we should rest our Top players tomorrow
I don’t see Ludogorets beating PSG
I wish goal difference counted instead of head to head in CL

    1. This is third season in a row where Man City are touted as title favorites. For those that understand football their game against Chelsea last weekend could have ended their title hopes for a number of reasons:

      (1) 3 points dropped in a game they could easily have gone 5-0 up before Chelsea scored.
      (2) Red cards to Aguero and Fernandinho, who will miss the following games: Leicester, Watford and Arsenal. Should they dropped a minimum of 4 points they could easily find themselves 8 points off top. That will put them really under pressure.

Having said that about Man City, I wish to reiterate that every team is playing for top four at the moment. There are no title favorites as yet.

  3. like@john legend has said a lot of these questions have been answered, the reason i’m being optimistic because even when we’re not playing well we don’t lose also since nobody believes we can win the league we don’t have to deal with the pressure of being favourites which plays to our advantage and may long it continues!!

  4. keep it together during February-March and I will believe we can win title. This has always been the main challenge.
