Are Arsenal finally set to sign Lacazette?

Reports emerged yesterday claiming that Arsenal would have to fork out a transfer fee of £48 million plus £12 million in add-ons in order to sign the Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and if the latest reports from the Daily Telegraph are to be believed, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is finally ready to splash the cash and land the highly-rated hitman.

Lacazette was once again in red-hot form last season, scoring 28 League goals and finishing second in the Ligue 1 goal-scoring charts. The Frenchman confirmed recently that he would be leaving the Parc Olympique Lyonnais this summer and a lack of Champions would not be a deal-breaker for him, boosting Arsenal’s chances of acquiring his services.

The Arsenal boss, infamous for penny-pinching, refused to pay a transfer fee in the same region for the striker last season but after promising the board to act quickly in this transfer window and the pressure from the fans mounting, it appears the Frenchman will finally buckle and spend big on a player that will certainly be worth the investment.

Personally, I would love to see Lacazette lead the line for Arsenal next season. The 26-year-old has been consistently performing at the highest level for quite some time now and is ready to take the next big step in his career, and I believe he would be a huge asset for Arsenal going forward.

So with that being said, I really hope to see this deal be put to bed as quickly as possible. Considering that the player is in the prime of his career and has proven himself to be a prolific hitman, the price tag is not too inflated anyway. So signing him up quickly and giving him a full pre-season to settle into the team seems like the right approach to take.
