Arsenal agree transfer fee for English centre-back

The football transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal seem to have gone a bit dry these last few days, with decisions waiting on the likes of Jamie Vardy and Henrik Mkhitaryan, dominating most of the Arsenal media. Therefore there is very little change in the transfer developments as we know. That is apart from Arsenal target Rob Holding.

Holding was linked with Arsenal almost immediately as the 2016/17 season came to a close. Many thought that the Bolton defender would be an easy signing for Arsene Wenger to wrap up. However it seems to be anything but that and Holding still hasn’t come any closer to signing for the Gunners.

The lack of development on this particular case leaves me to believe that it is nothing but another Arsenal transfer rumour. However the Daily Express has today reported that there has been some progress, in the potential signing of Holding. The report suggests that Bolton have agreed a provisional £1.5m transfer fee with Arsenal, who could sign the young Englishman when he agrees terms with the club.

This fee comes as a small shock since it was previously reported that Bolton had rejected a £2 million bid from Arsenal on a previous occasion. However things have worsened for Bolton, with relegation to League One as well as the need to raise additional funds.

Holding is rated as one of the most promising young defenders in English football and at 20 years old, he is the perfect age for Arsenal to develop him into a much better centre back.

With Chambers being rumoured to head out on loan this summer, it could create an opening for Holding, before he too should secure a loan move away in the coming seasons.
