Arsenal among the clubs on alert after midfielder put up for sale

Earlier on in this transfer window Arsenal were being linked with a move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie but that all died down very suddenly, however, circumstances have changed now that his club has put him up for sale.

According to the Italian media, there are three clubs specifically interested in the 22-year-old and they have been named as Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton.

That said, there have been no enquiries to date but according to the reports that is hardly surprising because the Italian giants have only just made it clear that they will listen to offers.

Apparently, Milan wants as close to 40 Million Euros as possible but as is usual these days it is likely instalments can be negotiated and that puts the player definitely within Arsenal’s reach.

AC Milan have brought in a couple of midfielders and Kessie is now viewed as surplus to requirements and the only reason he is a Milan player is that they were forced to sign him due to their loan agreement with his previous club Atalanta.

Kessie is a tough ball-winning midfielder and would certainly fit in at the Emirates, he is not quite a box to box midfielder in the mould of Aaron Ramsey but would be more than an adequate replacement for the Welshman.

  1. Average at best – next

Rumours coming out Tierney out for 8 weeks ? Hope we don’t buy another inj prone player

  2. You ain’t getting a better box to box midfielder than AR that’s why he has gone to a champions League winning club to play with Ron.

Anyhow, Why would we sign Kessie when we have pit bull and Guenda already? Plus Cebellos can win the ball.

Defense (CB) is what is needed now.

    1. With Rabiot, Emre Can, Pjanic, Khedira and possibly Pogba joining Juventus soon, I believe Mr. Can’t-hold-my-position will quickly discover the comforts of the bench.

      1. Khedria won’t be there, but could be at Arsenal. Yes there are other top midfielders but I personally think Ramsey offers more than those mentioned.

        We will see..

  3. Reminds me of a song
Technically pretty good and likes to put a foot in but as you said we’ve got guendozi and torriea and ceballos so should have all the coverd

  4. midfielders, forwards. we get nowhere without a better defence that won’d leak 51 goals. selling young players and keeping poor young and old. Cahill free for £5M a year for two years and Tierney and you improve the side. Tierney has no recurrent injury history.

    1. Is Arsenal forbidden to sign a proven/world class defender instead of all the talk of another midfielder,i just can’t get. Its so frustrating to see my dear club struggling to sign a tested /trusted defender. Unai Emery ,what you need now is a DEFENDER

  5. Ive always been in the board minority considering Kessie and
would LOVE to see him strolling around the midfield at the Emirates
BUT only a shock Xhaka exit(we can only dream) would precipitate
    any serious interest from AFC.

With the Bielek and Bennacer money, supplemented by the possible
sales of El Neny, Boss, Mustafi and Jenkinson AFC SHOULD have the
financial wherewithal to make a substantial bid for a Kontae,
Tah, Akanji, Upamecano type of established CB.

    B. Kamara from Marseille would be next choice if AFC prefer a less
expensive but HIGH ceiling, younger player.

  6. Why did they put him in the market?
Answer: they just bought Benacer, a former arsenal player whom arsenal refused to buy even with advantage of first refusal on his contract.
So tell me why the rumour should be taking serious?
    One word- Not interested

  7. Laca and Pepe not in the squad to Barcelona, probably due to match fitness concern. Anyhow Elneny, Jenkinson and Kos also not included. Could this mean they could be sold in this window? Might as well get a new senior CB then ?‍♂️

  8. Next season I think we’ll be tackling CM some more and maybe defence again and another GK as well as a wide left player. This season we have/had some areas more urgent. LB, we were atrocious in LB last season both with flat four and wingback, it was difficult to watch at times with both options looking in two minds half the time. We’ll hopefully bring in a good CB too but I have my doubts, I have a feeling that they’ll smooth over Koscielny friction maybe promise him a golden parachute which he would’ve got next season, and that is probably why he asked to leave early this being a substitute for the payment.

Sort out LB and a CB and then I think you’ll find that most fans will be happy with those efforts and looking forward to the season, some will remain picky of course but that will never change as it’s a way of life for those people.

    1. Rather we sort out RB then LB. Going into a season with only one specialist RB who’s still not in full training is worrying

      1. I dont think we will buy any CB, because UE has his heart set in holding and sokaritus. Plus if he thought it is so crucial then Arsenal would not have gone out and buy a 25million CB to loan him back. I think we will not see any more signing this season. KT maybe if he is not injured again and Arsenal agree to Celtic terms.

  9. If Arsenal gathered enough money from the sales of their on the fringe players at the club and from the player who vehemently wants to leave the club, raise sufficient money enough to make a bid for a top quality centreback signing before this summer transfer window is closed. Us the Arsenal supporters could once again see just one new top quality player arrival to the Emirates Stadium this summer. And the new arrival could likely be a top quality centreback but if Koscielny despite his revolt against the club is at the end still allowed to leave this summer. But if he doesn’t leave, the new arrival could be a top quality left winger in the caliber of Philippe Coutihno on a loan deal signing or Everton Soares on a permanent deal signing. If Arsenal will complete any of the above 2 deals to sign Coutihno or Soares – preferred, before the transfer window this summer closes, I will sacrifice the arrival of Soares or Coutihno to arrival at for the duo of Koscielny and Mustafi to stay and not be sold after all this summer.

And if it’s true that Tierney will nurse and an injury on him for the next 8 weeks which means he can’t pass a medical at Arsenal to facilitate his moving to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Then, his transfer to Arsenal this summer cannot happen. And will manage on with Monreal and Kolasinac who they already have in the left back position and do the summer campaign next season with them.
