Arsenal battling it out with Chelsea for more than just the Europa League

Arsenal and Chelsea face off in the Europa League final in just 12 days time but that is not the only battle going on between the two clubs.

The latest transfer gossip has the Blues chasing after one of our long term targets, Ajax forward David Neres.

It seems that our opponents are quietly confident that they will get their two-window transfer ban suspended while they appeal the sanction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

That is why they are pushing ahead with their summer transfer plans and have the young Brazilian on their shopping list.

Neres is valued at £40 Million and why that is a little expensive for us, we will be able to stump up that sort of cash if we win the Europa League.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are also reported to be keen on signing the 22-year-old.

Neres, who missed the second leg of the Champions League semi-final loss to Tottenham after picking up a pre-match injury, has been instrumental in the Dutch giant’s journey to a domestic double with goals at critical moments.

However, it was his displays against Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League that really caught the attention of the big clubs, including us.

If Chelsea fails to have their ban put on hold that will be a significant boost for us, though we will still face stiff competition for his signature which would be all the harder if we do not win the Europa League and qualify for next seasons Champions League.

  1. Ziyech has better stats than him in this season, but Ziyech is four years older

If both are 40+ M, maybe Arsenal can get Malcom or Thauvin for around 30 M

    1. I’ve watched both legs and I want to be convinced on Bielek but I’m not sure. He’s big and strong and took his goal well but seems a bit slow. His versatility is nice though. One to watch but maybe a loan to Championship would make more sense next year.

  2. am i the only one not that impressed by Neres? The fact he is Brazilian is half of the reason he is raved about as well.

    1. I’m not mate, it seems if a player is Brazilian he must be brilliant! Not a fan of Arthur Melo or Malcom either.

      1. If we exercise a little patience, Barca will get Griezeman and allow either Dembele or Malcom leave, then we can swoop in.

  3. Ziyech will go to United or Liverpool, not us.
    Just my opinion
United can offer him a lot more money
Liverpool is a Champions League finalist and could win it, also 2nd in Premier League

There are other wingers/Attacking midfielders who could improve us ie Thauvin, Insigne, Sancho, Isco, Verratti, Pepe, Felipe Anderson, Martial, Depay. But still very hard to get

  4. As a wise man once said – the bridge is over, the bridge is over

They won’t be getting their ban overturned and from next season will not be able to compete with us.
