Arsenal battling it out with Chelsea for more than just the Europa League

Arsenal and Chelsea face off in the Europa League final in just 12 days time but that is not the only battle going on between the two clubs.

The latest transfer gossip has the Blues chasing after one of our long term targets, Ajax forward David Neres.

It seems that our opponents are quietly confident that they will get their two-window transfer ban suspended while they appeal the sanction to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

That is why they are pushing ahead with their summer transfer plans and have the young Brazilian on their shopping list.

Neres is valued at £40 Million and why that is a little expensive for us, we will be able to stump up that sort of cash if we win the Europa League.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are also reported to be keen on signing the 22-year-old.

Neres, who missed the second leg of the Champions League semi-final loss to Tottenham after picking up a pre-match injury, has been instrumental in the Dutch giant’s journey to a domestic double with goals at critical moments.

However, it was his displays against Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League that really caught the attention of the big clubs, including us.

If Chelsea fails to have their ban put on hold that will be a significant boost for us, though we will still face stiff competition for his signature which would be all the harder if we do not win the Europa League and qualify for next seasons Champions League.
