Arsenal chasing out-of-favour Chelsea defender

Most of the Arsenal transfer rumours so far this summer have centered around our back line, after our ageing defenders had their worst season ever under Arsene Wenger, so it is obvious that this is the area that Sven Mislintat should be concentrating on.

The Gunners have already been linked with the Turkish centre-back Caglar Soyuncu and also with the experienced Greek
international Sokratis. We are also expected to bring in the ex-Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free, but none of those are left-sided players, which is also a position that needs looking at.

We have the very consistent Nacho Monreal but the Spaniard is now 32 years of age and surely won’t last too many more seasons at the top. Our only other contender is Sead Kolasinac but he seems to spend more time in attacking positions than defence, so there is little surprise that we have turned our eyes to the young Chelsea left-back Kenedy, who has spent the last 5 months at Newcastle, and impressed their coach Rafa Benitez.

It is very likely that Chelsea will be prepared to let him move on as Marcus Alonso is cemented into the first-team, and the Blues also have brought in Emerson as a backup if Alonso gets injured.

Kenedy looks like a good young prospect, but the reports are saying that Leipzig, PSG and Bayern Munich are also keen so the Brazilian won’t come cheap if Arsenal get him.

Would we want to buy a Chelsea reject anyway?
