Arsenal chiefs in France for Lacazette NOT Mbappe transfer?

There was a lot of debate generated among the Arsenal fans this week after a picture of our manager Arsene Wenger and the club´s chief executive Ivan Gazidis in the south of France was widely published in the football media. The main theory seemed to be that the Arsenal top brass were there to pursue the transfer of the highly rated young Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, but now it looks like it could be a different player that was the reason behind their visit.

Many Gooners thought that the Mbappe story was a bit far fetched because the 18-year old is apparently wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and other big spending clubs and so the prices being talked about, some over the £100 million mark, are not the sort we expect Arsenal to pay.

However, the report in The Sun suggesting that it was the Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette that Wenger and Gazidis were in France for seems a lot more believable, with the transfer fee for this player said to be more like £50 million.

The report claims that Arsenal will offer the prolific 26-year old, who banged in 37 goals for his club this season, a salary of around £200,000 a week to become a Gunner. Lacazette was being heavily linked with a move to Spain’s Atletico mMdrid but they have been hit with a transfer ban, so could this French forward be about to join Kolasinac in signing for Arsenal?
