Arsenal eyeing move for impressive Euro 2016 winger

Arsenal are keeping a watchful eye on Ivan Perisic currently, who has been highly impressive for Croatia this summer.

The winger scored the winner in the last group game with Spain, helping his side to leap-frog their opponents into top place in the group, therefore giving themselves an easier looking draw to contend with.

The Croatians will now face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, who have been lacklustre thus far, and only scraped through on goal difference, having failed to win (or lose) a single match.

Perisic’s performances have not only helped his side gain an advantage in the draw, but has also opened the eyes of Arsenal, who are now eyeing his potential signature.

The winger is not an unknown player however, having attracted interest from Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund previously, but could now find himself attracting bids from some other top sides also.

Perisic currently plies his trade with Inter Milan in Italy, having made the switch to Serie A 12 months ago from Wolfsburg. His transfer is believed to have been in the region of €16 Million, and would likely be sold for no less than €25 Million when you consider he is under contract until 2020.

Inter are linked with a number of signings this summer also, and could be willing to sell in order to strengthen, but I don’t think they will be letting anyone go too cheaply.

Arsenal had been linked with moves to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Riyad Mahrez in the coming window, but such reports have been calming of late, and Perisic could be set to arrive instead.

Does Perisic look a good fit for our team? Will competition for his signature be too much after his appearances this summer?

  1. Need to judge him on his Inter Milan performances and stats not just his performance in a 1 month international competition

    1. Looking at his stats, he doesn’t seem like much of an improvement over Theo as a winger
Looks like a big gamble to me

      1. Excellent post/observation. Inter is my team in Serie A, and I have followed them for a long time. I haven’t seen him much when he was playing in Bundesliga, but I can tell for a fact that he was a very average player last season for Inter. Heck, even Joel Campbell or Iwobi are better than him. In fact, he’s not an upgrade on any of our wingers, including the aforementioned Walcott. I wouldn’t mind raiding Inter for a couple of other players though. Icardi is one of them. Ljajic is another.

  2. I’m a fan of him as a player… Not so much a fan of how he’d fit in our system.
Personally, I would really like to see us invest in another direct winger capable of taking on and skinning his opponents. Mahrez would be me ideal transfer for this role as he showed last year he can single-handedly open PL defenses no matter how far they’re settled in deep. Draxler as well, who wenger has supposedly been a fan of for multiple seasons now.
    I can dream!!

  3. He wouldn’t significantly improve our squad and we don’t need him. The only thing Arsenal really lacks is a consistent goal threat.

  4. Yh!! He looks good. Let’s find out his weaknesses also. The EPL can mess up a player with in five games. Also we have been eyeing too many players lately. But I think there are alternatives to him. Alex Teixiera of Brazil and Shaktur. Yh!! I like him better.
