Arsenal face Italian competition for £50 Million rated defender

Arsenal set to beat Milan to the signing of £50 million defender.

Arsenal appears to be beating off competition from AC Milan for the signature of RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

The Gunners have been long term admirers of the 20-year-old and were keen to sign him last summer. But the Germans demanded an amount of over £70 million at the time.

Upamecano’s impressive development has continued this campaign and more suitors are joining the queue. However, Arsenal and AC Milan remain his major admirers.

Reports from MailSport claims that the Gunners are now in pole position to sign him. It has also been reported that he has a clause in his contract which reduces his release clause by £17 million every season, this means that the Gunners can land him in the next transfer window for £50 million.

Their defence has been Arsenal’s major weakness this season despite the signing of David Luiz and Upamecano could be the long-awaited solution to that problem.

The French defender has been improving consistently since he began his career at Liefering in the 2015-16 season. He joined his current team for just £10 million and has since developed into one of their indispensable players having made 49 appearances for them so far.

The thing is this, Arsenal has been consistently linked with the young Frenchman without anything happening. Seems to me that Upamecano is one of those players that will always be linked with Arsenal. Does not mean he will ever become an Arsenal player though.

  1. Our problem right now is bigger than transfer, new players or whom we can buy. We have to get rid of the most immediate problem before thinking of non issues. EMERY is our immediate problem right now

    1. Emery needs to get his selections right or Kroenke will wonder why his hard earned money has gone on players such as Tierney sitting on the bench.

  2. Funny as it seems. The ones we got during the last window, we are still yet to utilize them on daily basis rather we are busy thinking of purchasing more.
When will this Arsenal FC learn and work things out properly.
Why do we(Fans) always have to been frustrated week in week out.
