Arsenal fans having a laugh at Liverpool over Ox transfer?

When Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down a new contract offer from Arsenal this summer, worth something like £180,000 a week according to some Arsenal transfer rumours, it was a real kick in the teeth for the Gunners and Arsene Wenger who appeared to be bending over backwards to please the England international and persuade him to stay, even moving Hector Bellerin to the left to accommodate the wantaway player.

I would love to see what Wenger is thinking right now, wouldn’t you? Probably chuckling heartily into a glass of claret if he watched that Liverpool cup game at Leicester I reckon. Is the Ox having regrets already do you think? Apparently the main reason why the Ox turned down his offer from Arsenal was so he could play in the middle.

I am sure he was not thinking it would be the middle of a disaster though, or perhaps a toilet, but that is what our former star has got himself into it seems. It must make it worse for the Ox that the side he left has gone from strength to strength(go with me on this guys) since his transfer while his new club have yet to win a game since and were just knocked out of the League cup by a second string Leicester City.

At least Chambo finally got to start this cup game, and why they have named it after a big north American mammal is a mystery to me, but maybe he wishes he had not started or been anywhere near the place. After his performance he might not be starting any more games for a while so he should have plenty of time to reflect.

Wild blasts over the bar, poor passing, ineffective runs and all the things Arsenal fans have got used to over the years were on show from the former Gunner tonight and I am not sure when I have enjoyed a game quite as much. There was a moment when Jurgen Klopp looked at him as if to say, ‘what the hell have I just paid nearly £40 million for’.

Of course I would not be slamming the guy if he was still a Gunner but he is not and that was his choice so for now I am going to enjoy every little piece of his and his new team’s predicament.

All together now Gooners, to the tune of My Way….regrets, I’ve had a few….

Bob.
