Arsenal fears grow after Chile take a kicking

The current star of the Arsenal team Alexis Sanchez was on international duty again last night and he helped his Chile team mates defeat Uruguay in a hard fought Copa America quarter final to book their place in the semi-final. But he was lucky to come through the game unscathed as Uruguay put themselves about and launched some ferocious tackles on their opponents.

Alexis even revealed after the game, as reported by the Daily Mail, that one of the Uruguay players had apologised to him later in the game for basically targeting the Gunner with the rough stuff.

Alexis said, “They like to fight, argue, go forward all out; one player told me in the first half “Move you wimp” but then later he said to me: “I am sorry”

“He said to me, ‘That’ll do, I kicked the s*** out of you’. And I said, ‘Alright but you could have caused an injury and that’s not what football’s about.'”

At least Chile do not have to face Uruguay again but winning that game means they will have two games left even if they lose the semi-final to Bolivia or Peru and that means he will be missing the start of the season even if he does avoid injury. And you can be sure that the Arsenal star will be one of the Chile players singled out for treatment.

Another will be the excellent Arturo Vidal, rumoured to be an Arsenal transfer target. The Juventus midfielder took an awful challenge just before half time and I thought he might have to be replaced. I hope that Wenger really is trying to sign the Chilean midfielder but that will not happen if someone does put him in the treatment room. How stressful is this tournament Gooners?

  1. “Even if he avoids injury”. Hear, hear. I think it is stressful for the idiot writing this article, not for the gooners in general. The last game of Copa America is July 4th and the first game in EPL is August 8th (thus 32 days after) while the Community Shield is on August 2nd .

    1. think the copa america is just as physical as the African nations cup, small teams always try to single out your best players and kick the shiiit out of them. however I can’t wish them bad at this stage as they will still play two games no matter d results. so wish him d trophy.

  2. We now know he’s only got two games left a semi final then either a final or 3rd place play off. Hopefully he’s through the worst of it the team’s left are better quality and won’t be quite as rough. If we are in for Vidal I think Wenger is right in not moving for him until after this tournament because he’s had a lot of football to play. Although I think it’s highly unlikely he’ll leave Juventus I’d love to see him at arsenal next season.

As for Schneiderlin I think he’ll end up at either of the Manchester Clubs I really can’t see him at Arsenal next season.

  3. sanchez is a strong lad, he cant be bullied easily.. Hope he wins the trophy he will grow more confident to our advantage… Legend in the making

    2. welcome @mhiz pel. seems we are forming Nigerian base over here. so where in Nigeria do u base

  5. Two wins will be nice to boost his confidence for the coming EPL,,so as Gunners we have to wish him all the best in the Tournament and pray that he finishes injury free…

  6. Wasn’t expecting the copa america to be this boring. Many of the teams are too defensive. In a game like argentina – jamaica, was expecting a scoreline of 5-0 but it ended 1-0. Don’t think sanchez will get injured tho. He s a strong lad and he s used to the south american game

  7. I’m rooting for Chile to win as Alexis is my favourite player
Alexis will be fine in the two remaining matches.
After the preseason, he will have an extended break also

    1. Alexis die hard attitude is worth emulating by up coming goners. He gives his best, even when d team ain’t doing great. I’m happy he chose us in place of looserpool.. lol

  8. No Army without a Tank…Vidal strength I compare it with that of a tank we need him he’s that physical that he has no fear
All he wants is winning all we have been waiting is the BPL
Get Vidal the Trophy is ours…..
