Arsenal give up on Vardy and turn to Inter Milan hitman

Now that we have moved on from the attempt to sign Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy with Arsene Wenger hopefully having the last word on the subject this morning, when he told a French TV Station: “I think Leicester have made a statement and Vardy will stay. We were on the case and interested, but not more than that,”

“He has decided to stay at Leicester and good luck to him.

“He came late to the game and in fairness Leicester bought him from Fleetwood and he has been successful. He is 29 and he has chosen to stay at Leicester. You have to respect that.”

So Goodbye toVardy! As soon as the snub was confirmed it was reported that the odds were slashed on Arsenal getting Aubameyang, and other reports suggested that we were aiming for Morata or Nolito from Spain, but according to Talksport today the Gunners next target is to be the Inter Milan hotshot Mauro Icardi.

The Argentina international is only 23 years old, but has an impressive record of 52 goals in 102 games for Inter, which in no mean feat in Serie A especially at his age. The report reckons Icardi will be available for £32million, which is a great price for his age. (Although that may have gone up with the crash of the Pound last night!)

Wenger has already stated that he thinks the South Americans are producing all the best strikers at the moment, so could he be after this one for Arsenal?
