‘Arsenal have no funds for big signings’???

Arsenal are claimed to have made no funds available for a big name signing today, despite the expected sales which are ongoing.

A number of Gunners are linked with the exit door today, with Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson, Jack Wilshere, Lucas Perez, Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calum Chambers and Theo Walcott all possible departures

Kieran Gibbs left the club in a reported £7 Million move to West Bromwich Albion yesterday, and the Ox is closing on a supposed £40 Million move to Liverpool, having partaken in a medical last night apparently.

Despite any moves away from the club, BBC journalist David Ornstein claims that there will is no money available for any big signings, despite the income from Chamberlain’s imminent sale.

Ornstein said: “Arsenal’s squad was particularly heavy only a few weeks ago – 35 [players] strong.

“The outlay on Alexandre Lacazette eats into an enormous amount of their overall transfer budget – adding the Kolasinac salary into that as well.

“There is no money available for anymore major signings.”

I struggle to believe that our club has NEEDED to make a profit from the transfer window, and refuse to accept that we would have blown our whole budget on only ONE player, with Sead Kolasinac having moved on a free transfer, and Lacazette being our club record £52 Million signing.

Our club is not a poor one, but does appear to be poorly run when you compare us to our rivals at the top of the table. Even Tottenham have moved to bring in more players than us this summer, despite a temporary move to Wembley Stadium for the campaign and having to pay off the refurbishments on their stadium.

We finished fifth last season, our lowest finish in the Arsene Wenger era, and that should have given us the kick up the jacksy to actually go all-out in the current transfer window, but our club just appears to be allowing us to fall further behind our rivals, and if two losses from three in the Premier League already is not warning enough, then this is going to be a horrific year…

Will Arsenal ease our worries with some big signings? Will the club pull off a major coup? Has our contract situation hampered our transfer dealings?
