Look out Spurs! Arsenal have the best defence (in the League anyway!)

The North-London derby is always a tasty affair but Sunday’s game includes an added ingredient that should make it a little more interesting.

Fantasy football game www.oulala.com have taken a look at the weekend’s game between Arsenal and Tottenham and have revealed that the match will see 2015’s best striker go up against the year’s best defence.

In 2015, Spurs striker Harry Kane has scored the most Premier League goals of any player. His tally of 21 puts the 22-year-old three ahead of his nearest challenger, Manchester City’s Sergio Agüero, who has 18 this year.

Oulala’s stats show that three forwards have scored 15 each. Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, Christian Benteke for both Aston Villa and new side Liverpool and this season’s top scorer, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

Kane will be looking to continue his goal scoring form for the year against 2015’s best defence, Arsenal.

The Gunners have conceded the fewest goals of any Premier League side during the calendar year, just 20. According to Oulala’s stats that’s six fewer than any other team. Manchester United have conceded 26 goals in 2015.

A further four back are Manchester City who have conceded 30 goals this year. The next best Premier League defences are Southampton who have conceded 31 goals in 2015 and Crystal Palace who have conceded 32 goals this year.

Harry Kane has scored four goals in his last two Premier League game’s while Arsenal go into the game following a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Arsenal were missing defensive duo Laurent Koscielny and Héctor Bellerín against Munich through injury. Arsenal manager has stated that the centre-back has a small chance to feature on Sunday, while the right-back is a major doubt.

  1. It is fairly clear that our defence is a major factor in helping us win games, and without them, there seems little point in risking our first team attack / midfield in other competitions.

    1. Fact is 3 of our defenders are good. Whilst Gabriel and mertesacker fight to make up the 4 Debuchy, chambers and gibbs are sadly lacking.

Cazorla, gets away with being a non defensive midfielder in league matches, where many teams are happy to sit back, but in the champions league, 2 defensive midfielders are required.

In the attacking zone we simply cannot keep abiding the injuries. We need options, we need fitness, we need power.

      1. You have to be fair. In Europe this season, all of our defenders atleast made a big mistake in one or more goals conceded.

Yesterday Bayern were crossing the ball form virtually anywhere inside our third or just outside it freely. We didn’t close them down in those areas neither did we make enough tackles.
