Arsenal injury update ahead of Newcastle game

On Monday night Arsenal play Newcastle United in the Premier League and it is critically important that we have as many players as possible available for the game, however, there are some concerns with at least three of our players.

The Daily Express is claiming that five players are set to miss the game, that is inaccurate, they included Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis Papastathopoulos in that list but both played against each other in the Bosnia v Greece 2020 European qualification clash and there is no reason to think they will not be available.

Aaron Ramsey remains doubtful, he missed the Wales Euro qualifiers and at first, it was thought he would be fine for the Newcastle game, but that is no longer the case and chances are he will be absent.

Midfielder Granit Xhaka picked up an abductor injury in Switzerland’s 3-3 draw with Denmark and it is now a waiting game to see if he has recovered enough to be included in the matchday squad.

Nacho Monreal is another concern but the club is apparently hopeful he will be fit for the game, the Spaniard missed the trip to Dubai to work on his calf problem and as with Xhaka, it is now a waiting game.

We know Lucas Torreira is out following his sending off against Tottenham and Danny Welbeck, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding are definitely out due to their long term injuries.

So, on the whole not too bad, could have been a lot worse, and reading between the lines even if Ramsey, Xhaka and Monreal miss the Newcastle clash the chances are they will be back with us shortly afterwards.

  1. How happy I am to see an article discussing our upcoming game! ? These 2 weeks have dragged!!
Ramsey & Monreal are back in full training according to Arsenal’s website…
    Where are Dan’s predictions?!!

  2. Wow… I really hope they’re all fit, cos Emery seemed to have found a stable and exciting 11 from the Man utd and Rennes games…
With Torreira out, If Ramsey and Xhaka are also doubtful, I fail to see who can be paired with Guendouzi in midfield…
I’d say AMN, but i dnt want Leichtsteiner or Mustafi anywhere at that RWB Position.
