Arsenal interest in Brazilian DM confirmed

Although Matthieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta have both returned from injury, they are both getting long in the teeth and are unlikely to be able to play all season, and most Arsenal fans are still clamouring for a younger stronger defensive midfielder to be able to step in if (god forbid) anthing untoward happens to Francis Coquelin.

It may be possible that our prayers could be answered in January as yesterday, as the agent Joao Santos has reported that the Gunners have been sending scouts to look at his client Jorginho, who is currently playing in Serie A with Napoli. Santos was reported as saying: “One of the head scouts of Arsenal is well-known, and so I know he was at Marassi for the Napoli match.

“Right now we’re more thinking about Jorginho at Napoli than the transfer market.

“I’m in Brazil, and when I’m back we can discuss my client’s contract.

“The priority is getting a call-up for the national team, then there’s the January transfer market.

“If Napoli receive an irrefutable offer for Jorginho in January then it’s normal that we’d make our assessments.”

The 23 year-old was born in Brazil but his family moved to Italy when he was young so he has dual nationality and is elegible to play for either country but he has already opted to play for his adopted country. This is only his second season at Napoli but has helped them win the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa already.

Could Jorginho be one of Arsenal targets for January?

  1. Personally I rate Allan higher than Jorginho when it comes to being a pure DM, however Jorginho has the completer package in terms of passing, so he could well play alongside Coquelin aswell. Lacks a bit on the physical side though.

Wouldn’t be my favorite pick (which is Krychowiak) but would definitely not be a bad move

  2. We scouted Kondogbia, Schederlin,Lacazettee,Krchiwsky etc according to media reports and rumours….i wonder what became of all these players…..in a nutshell, its all lies and speculations, leave it already!!!!

  3. This guy is high quality, not just emty words, but he is the real deal. But hey, transfer news and Arsenal dont mix with each other.

  4. Arsenal will sign whoever they want to sign. We will agitate when the time for signings agitation comes around in mid-December. Meanwhile, let the Gunners beat WBA to all the 3 points at the Hawthorns on Saturday to remain abreast with Man City in the table on points. Or even surpassed them if Liverpool spring a surprise by beating them or play a draw game with them as I am expecting.

  5. If we goin 4 brazilian dm’s ad ratha casemiro. I think kristian bielik should be brought thru sooner than later though. He shows gud composure n aggresive play. Oh yeah.. n f*** terrorists.
