Arsenal must not take their foot off the gas against Watford

Arsenal’s last two League games were brilliant wins over Leicester City and Man United, with the return of their fast free-flowing attacking style which is practically impossible to defend against. We were creating just as many chances at the beginning of the season, but now Alexis and Walcott are taking advantage of the situation at last.

One player who has not been able to play so far this season is Danny Welbeck, but he knows exactly what Arsenal need to do to keep climbing up the table. He said: “We’ve just got to keep on improving and – as a squad going into games – we need to make sure that we’re right mentally for every single match, not just selective fixtures,”

“Sides in the lower half are beating teams in the top half and that just shows the competition throughout the whole of the Premier League.

“There’s not one game where you can take your foot off the gas and you’ve just got to be prepared mentally, physically and tactically for every single match.

“With the teams throughout the whole of the Premier League nowadays, it’s going to be a difficult match whoever you’re playing so you’ve got to be focused on the job and getting the three points. You’ve got to have that mentality if you want to succeed.”

When we faced Leicester they were unbeaten this season, and Man United were three points above us in the table, but the clear warning is that this week we face newly promoted Watford, and there is the danger of being complacent and thinking we will win easily.

This may be an even bigger test of our consistency and we need to grab the chance with both hands, and build extra confidence ahead of our crucial Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich….

Onwards and Upwards!

  1. After international break we need to play defensive for at least twenty mnt to find our Tiki Taka feet then let hell break loose

    1. we can kill d game off in the first 20mins and rest easy snuffing out opposition attacks with ease for the rest of d match. we need to show the blueprint of Bayern match, if u defend for d first 20mins against Bayern u might b 5-0 down. And after Bayern we have the spurds coming up. so the game plan is to win d match with overwhelming pace even b4 our opponents finish wearing their boots. COYG

      1. Watford have had 2 weeks to analyse how Man u got it wrong in the 1st 20 min – It aint gonna be that easy esp since they a team with a good defensive record at home..which includes 3 clean sheets..

        1. all i’m saying is that every time the team has a break our amazing passing suffers for a few mnts, lets play defensive for a few mnts until we gel and by playing defensive it will draw out the other teem and allow us to counter attack with fierce speed that we have

          1. I get you saying that, but it’s unusual for so many of our players to have a great international break. Our 2 keepers were outstanding in a match each. Our first choice right back and 2nd choice left back both had good games as did chambers. Whilst cazorla, Ramsey, alexis Walcott giroud , campbell all scored. Ozil was also on fire in the 2nd match. Also Debuchy, mertesacker, Gabriel, Monreal, koscielny, arteta, flamini and coquelin have all rested and look ready to play.

  2. We must not take Watford for granted, they have started season well, and we want the 3 points to maintain our EPL push.
But we must have our strongest team available on Tuesday if we want to win BM. Our star man – Alexis – will probably not get back to UK until late tonight.
    Cech
    Debuchy, Gab, Merts, Monreal
    Le Coq, Santi, Ramsey, Ozil
    Campbell, Theo
Subs: Ospina, Kos, Bellerin, Flamini, Alexis, Ox, Giroud

      1. No he never meant that, he meant that we should play Watford with that team, rest Sanchez cause he’ll be back in UK late and he’s tired I second that thought but play Ox, no need to rest much but resting 1 or 2 ain’t a bad idea.

  3. Lemme make myself clear………. I dn’t think i’m in a position and negotiable mood to swap a player like sanchez with any player whosoever ….. Don’t even mention messi or ronaldo!

  4. The Gunners MUST cross the mental blocked line of not putting 3 Barclays Premier League(BPL) wins consecutively together so far this season. A win at Vicarage Road by Gunners will open the floodgate a BPL winning run for them that will make the Gunners uncatchable at the top of the League table. Points could be dropped by their title rivals in their this weekend games. Therefore, the 2nd starting XI Gunners who the Boss will likely start for this Watford game because of the pending Bayern Munich Ucl game, MUST prepare themselves physically, mentally, morally, technically and tactically and collect all the 3 points that will be at stake from the Hornets. If need be, each Gunner should take along a can of insects flit repellent to repell any attack by the Hornets.

  5. Seriously, Arsenal should sign another player from Chile atleast. There is some great chemistry from those players for their national team that would benefit Sanchez at Arsenal. Vargas has a great scoring record for Chile.

  6. Off topic:

I just saw this on skysports
” Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is being linked in
Spain with a £37m move to Real Madrid.”

    Lol.

    1. They can if they are willing to give us 100 Million + CR7 ISCO AND JAMES RODRIGUEZ. If they can’t than they can **** off. hahaha COYG. I’m sure Wenger is asking what the heck they are smoking over there at Bernabeu.

  7. Well, we are all buzzing and full of confidence once more. Could the roller coaster journey we have experienced so far this season finally be over? Can we go on a decent run?
I pray to the footballing gods I am wrong, but this game has frustrating draw written all over it. This is exactly the kind of game where Arsene makes the mistake of gambling that giving a couple of players a chance of badly needed game time (and resting a couple for Bayern) is more important than keeping a run and therefore the confidence going. I will not be at all surprised to see Giroud start up front against Watford, to give him a confidence boost and rest Theo. Another that could get a start is Debuchy. The one player we should rest is Alexis, clearly (Chile dressing room photos) he has a problem and I am guessing rest is the only cure, as he can clearly play with it if need be. I hope we name an unchanged team so we can make sure the current buzz keeps going, I think that confidence is far more important than resting players right now.
