Arsenal MUST NOT underestimate Man United

Ahead of the all-important clash at Old Trafford, the Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has warned his side not to underestimate struggling and injury-hit Manchester United as the clubs prepare for battle on Sunday, with the Gunners aiming to continue their surge towards the Premier League title.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Frenchman said: ” I think it’s been a difficult (season) for Man United but in big games like this, we know that they’re going to turn up, because everyone loves these kind of matches. It would be a massive win for them to beat us. But we’re going to be ready. Man United are always going to be a great team. Even if they had a bad spell, they still have a strong squad.”

With respect to history, the Red Devils have been Arsenal’s most formidable opponent, especially at Old Trafford where the Gunners last won a Premier League game way back in 2006. As we saw in the season before last, no matter how disjointed and jaded United seem to be, they always step up when it’s time to face Arsenal.

Now although Arsene Wenger’s side cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over the Manchester side at the Emirates earlier in the season, conquering Old Trafford still remains a daunting challenge. Considering the Gunners’ history at Old Trafford, it is certainly difficult to be fully confident of a win, despite the lacklustre form and all the injury problems that the record champions have.

So with that being said, I completely agree with Coquelin, Arsenal simply cannot afford to take Manchester United lightly. If Louis van Gaal’s side are going to step up against anyone, it is definitely going to be Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. In the Gunners’ quest for the Premier League title, perhaps the first step is to end the decade-long nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams.

  1. We always play well after a disappointing result. If im not wrong, we were back from a disappointing result against man u in the reverse fixture (correct me if I’m wrong). Hope it will be the same again!

    1. “I want the absolute best for Arsenal and am prepared to do whatever is necessary to ensure the success of the club.

      go. go. go

      1. kroenke is one of the people i dislike the most on this planet. all our problems originate from that man.

    1. And again!

Charlton doing wonders, first Coquelin was called back and possibly now Sanogo to save our season LOOOOL

    1. we drew w norwich bc we’ve been sucking at scoring. but i have a feeling we’ll all find our scoring boots at once. somewhere along the line, i want us to win with a high score.

  2. Typical That Leicester get a last minute winner!

Yaya Sanogo gets a hat trick for Charlton… His ready… bring him back wenger lol ?

  3. Are we seriously the only ones that can beat Leicester? WTF I don’t know what’s more annoying, us dropping points to crap teams our Leicester who keeps winning against every team besides us.

    1. i always wondered why ppl dont realize: 3 points v west ham is same as 3 pts vs chelsea. drawing WH is worse because those should be 3 points we def could win. logically, we should be more upset when we fail to get 3 pts from the “lower” teams. if we always took care of those, we’d have less pressure to win versus the top 4 or top 6.

  4. The hell with Leicester… They are ganna win the damn title..it’s either them or spuds.. Sorry just speaking the truth. They way it looks we have harder games compared to both of them.

    1. no,i’m not going to give up until its mathematically impossible. sanchez , ox have been close to scoring. ramsey should be replaced by elneny. wenger should bench whoever has bad form. giroud should give way to welbeck. and the worst is theo: i just sense a bad attitude from him. definitely the bench: campbell on RW.

  5. yeah, thats VERY dispapointing. it was 88th min and i thought we were looking golden to have a mathematical chance to lead the table this weekend.
