Arsenal must stop confident Man City or Wenger won’t leave!

Arsenal face Swansea this afternoon in a potential banana skin scenario as the Welsh minnows have a great record at the Emirate, but Arsene Wenger is already thinking about next weeks meeting with the League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad. Le Prof believes a win today is also vital to keep the Gunners confidence at a high before the trip to Manchester.

“At the moment, Manchester City look like they are galloping in front of everybody,” said Wenger. “They haven’t been stopped yet. Of course you start to see the first trends after 10 or 12 games. It’s an important moment of the season now and it is vital that we get into a run now that is very positive.

“All the rest [of the teams] are compact, so the target for every team is basically the same. We have to try to stop City first, then of course make yourself positive results. The run creates the confidence and the confidence creates the run. I think City are an offensive force who can score many goals. That certainly creates positivity in the team.”

But the season is still young and if Arsenal can take the wind out of City’s sails then who knows what could happen? Arsenal fans don’t want to think about the possibility of losing either game, and the fans that are hoping to see Wenger leave the club will find those hopes diminishing with every defeat as Le Prof has told the fans that he doesn’t intend to leave until he has won the coveted trophy once more. Wenger said: ‘I’m more hungry than ever because the demands are higher, because I didn’t win the Premier League for a long time, and because I want to do that before you get me out of here.

‘I have always got something to prove. I think I am born for competition. I don’ t know why, and what happened, but it is like that. No matter what I do.

After 9 League games Arsenal are currently 9 points behind Man City and our rivals have yet another winnable game away at West Brom this afternoon, so it is likely to be down to Arsenal to try and inflict a first defeat on Pep Guardiola’s side next week. Is a win there our only hope of trying to close the gap on the runaway leaders and to give Wenger a possibility of retiring in a blaze of glory?

  1. People that are born for competition don’t spend all their time making excuses for failing to do the basics right

  2. “I’m more hungry than ever because the demands are higher, because I didn’t win the Premier League for a long time, and because I want to do that before you get me out of here.”

Most of us already know that Wenger wants to leave with another major trophy in his hands. But the ambition must be accompanied by greater effort, by hiring better players, better staffs and improving the youth development.

“I think City are an offensive force who can score many goals. That certainly creates positivity in the team.”

Wenger knows what would create positivity and motivation in his team. Therefore I hope he stops playing safe and sets his team to play with flowing attacking football like what we saw in Goodison Park. No guts, no glory.

I wish the upcoming Manchester City would show him how advanced Manchester City have progressed and hopefully learns from Guardiola’s system. If Arsenal could at least win the Europa League and get the FA Cup again, it would be good enough for Wenger to leave with pride.

    1. Arrogant ly , Wenger says he will win another title before he leaves. Therefore deciding , above the board and owner what he will do with “his club. ” This self deluded man, with delusions of grandeur, when he has not a prayer, in reality, even of delusions of adequacy, is psychiatrically unfit to manage, at all. Even to manage a whelk stall. This latest outrageous statement shows how far from mental normality this catastrophic, deranged manager really is.

I could have not said it better myself!!!!!!

When someone reaches that point of arrogance and delusion it is impossible to rationalize, suggest, change or a simple adjust to each game.
The sickness is so deeply routed that I have to admire the lads for playing thru this.

  3. That Silva fella and the Gundagon lad both fitted in over there very nicely. They keep the ball well now. They still have a weakness at the back if you can get at them, that means going longer by trying to bypass the first few players in midfield, cut them out of the game and City will rattle. Pep calls teams long ball teams as an insult but he only does this because he knows where his strength lays.

Mour with another clean sheet today, there is no obvious ploy to use v Mour. City can take them to school but can we do that when we have to. Then there’s the game slowing tactics in use with everyone having turns at leaving a little something extra in the tackle. Our front three could scare any sides defence, esp Lacazette Alexis if they get a sniff, and Ozil is a man that can find them.
