Arsenal on the verge of signing new left-back?

Despite Arsene Wenger’s future being uncertain beyond the end of the season, it seems as though Arsenal are already planning for the next campaign with new recruits seemingly high on the agenda. According to a report from Goal, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac.

With the futures of both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs up in the air, it seems as though the North London club are eyeing up a quick replacement in the form of the 23-year-old Bosnian, who has stalled on contract talks at the Veltins-Arena, which means the Gunners can land him on a free transfer in the summer.

Personally, I believe this story has a great deal of credibility to it, especially considering that the player will be a free agent at the end of the season and the continuing uncertainty on whether the Gunners’ established left-backs, Monreal and Gibbs, will extend their stay at the Emirates. In addition, the player himself is looking to take the next step in his career and will be tempted at the chance to grow under Arsene Wenger, who looks like he’ll stay for another two years.

Kolasinac, thankfully, is revered for his defensive abilities and is known to be an agile defender who is strong in tackle and on the ball. In addition, the player is also versatile and has played at central defence and defensive midfield for Schalke, another trait that will be very handy for the Gunners squad at the moment. Although it is advisable to take every Arsenal transfer story with a pinch of salt, I wouldn’t be very surprised to see him at the Emirates next season.

  1. 2 season back vidal, khedira, gundogan was in market but offcourse they r not good enough for arsenal!!! bcos we had ramsey Wilshire. in this season draxler leroy sane was for sale! we have walcot ox ? no one can or should replace them. pep, klopp, ancelotti was ready to join a top club but we have wenger. and we r not considered to be a top club anymore

  3. I have been supporting Arsenal for some time now.. n the story of what could have been.. what should have been is not different to me.. Right from dragging the Hazard saga while He was still at Lille.. n as always Chelsea coming from behind to sneak him up.. to Kylian Mbappe last year being chased by Wenger.. ofcourse unable to land him.. to bid made for Suarez by triggering his release clause by one pound…. n in the end.. buying some unknown player on the deadline day to just cool things down….

  4. Personally I like the sounds of this one. If true we have beaten Juventus and Chelsea to a player, who usually do target the same one’s we first look at. We know Chelsea will be looking at players in this position and this one looks suited to the prem. I like that this player looks like he’d slap you into next week if willing. He has pace height and aggression, we have went in early and got our man. I’ve read that he already signed the pre-agreement, I hope it’s not paper talk. Arsenal do need to be better in their transfer dealings, I hope this is a sign, it could be a knock on effect from them hearing about changes made at the top. They missed Manolas last time and this signing reminds me a little of that one.
